Grandma 1, Mailboxes, 0 2005-09-13 - 9:40 a.m. Despite the 82 year old grandmother that decided to take out my neighbor’s mail box and tree, my mail box and cement planter, and another mailbox before clunking down the road to a stop a half mile away (we think the old lady wasn’t quiet right and the cops and her family have assured us that her driving days are done.)…and the ensuing putting in of the new mailbox (ouch my back) and tree hauling, the Household weekend went pretty good. Fighting was kinda ‘eh’ though the slow work drills were fun I thought. Couple of folks got ouchies which sorta sucked the fun out of it. Can’t really fight in my back yard too much right now, as the dust is killer from the lack of real grass. It looked like Pig-pin out there between fights… I grilled up some steaks and such and we hung out for the rest of the evening around the firepit, while some of the neighbors threw their own rocking party, including house band and DJ. Sunday started with Hamish deciding that he was going to make a big enough breakfast to feed us for the rest of the damn day: 4 pounds of bacon, 3 dozen biscuits, four containers of gravy (did you know that you can get gravy in jars? Not enough sausage in it so…) 2 pounds of sausage, some hash, a dozen eggs with Velveeta…OJ, coffee, and a bucket. ;-) Right after breakfast was the car crash, which sounded a lot like a bomb had gone off in the front yard. Broken glass, exploded concrete, car parts…and my damn garbage service won’t pick up the trash…I wonder why?!?! I took Monday off to nurse my back and other woes and had a nice, if boring day laying around the house. Kim and I watched “Sahara” which was surprisingly, really, really good. Much better than “National Treasure” which came out at about the same time. Last night we watched the Falcons and the Eagles in the "Bird Bowl". We were actually watching ESPN when the fights broke out while there didn't seem to be any punching to me, I look at it this way. Professional athletes are suppose to be just that, professional. I had no problem with them getting ejected and I think they should have been fined a night work for it as well. After all, they didn't work, they shouldn't get paid...of course on that theory, I shouldn't get paid for yesterday's sick day.... Tonight is fighter practice and I’ll be there no matter what, fighting or teaching. I think I will be able to armour up and fight a bit, we will see. Still need to get word on what the Thursday/Sunday practice situation is. Otherwise, I have a ton of lay deadlines to meet here at work. I really needed the day off yesterday, but the slack is killing me. So, back to it. previous - next
