40 Days
2005-12-22 - 11:33 a.m.This is something I do every year, just for shits and giggles….
January:We blew off 12th night, and had friends come back to the house to hang out afterwards instead.
February:
University – Was at Caer G. Went to a couple of classes and socialized with folks.
Ymir – Started the Rose’s Challenge and Squired William and Malcolm. Good times.
March:
Siege of the Black Tower – Small Mellee event, sang some at feast.
April:
April was hell month….
Coronation – Mud Boggin’ with the Mud Dabber. Fighting was rained out. Pushed cars out of the mud. I hate northern events.
SS Novice Tourney – Won the “Bested Dressed 3 Man” Prize. William won the tourney.
ToC – Melisent proteged to Dame Anne. Malcolm was recognized with a favor from the Queen.
Blackstone Raids/Aethelmarc Coronation – Had an awesome time. We are considering going back next year. Mellees in the rain, and bardic in the snow.
May :
Tir Y Don’s 30th Birthday: I won this tourney and finalled against Hamish. This weekend is tainted by Francesca’s death.
Spring Revel – We held the small memorial tourney for Cesca.
Sapphire Joust – Melisent stepped up as Baronial Champion, I went to the finals of the Sapphire Joust with Duke Ragnarr. Good bardic at this event. The Rose’s Challenge ended. That Quest was far harder and bittersweet in the end with Cesca’s passing. But it did something to me inside. Fighting is different now. It’s hard to explain…June:
Challenge of the Heart – Fun, but really, really HOT event. Got heat exhaustion.
Storvik Novice and Unbelt – Day tripped and fought mêlées.
July:
Assessment Battles: Up nearly all night for Sir Christian’s Vigil. Hanging out with my Knight and his Lady. Good bardic that night in camp. This was one of my favorite events. We actually camped!
August:
Pennsic: Drama with land grab, drama in camp, the Pennsic Quest, Singing on the Field, Justus’s vigil, We Are the Dragons, Magnus’s vigil, on and on and on….Fostered Uilleag and Ulfdis joined the household.
September:
Lunch on the Lawn: Bearpitted. Totally laid back.
October:
Kingdom Crusades:
More RAIN!!! No fighting, card games, Kraken Party/Bardic. Hangover from hell.
November:
No events.
December:
Unevent: Best Unevent EVER. Had a good time with Melisent’s household. Felt welcome and got to see some good folks I haven’t seen in a while. Good way to wrap up the year.17 events, a couple of weekend practices, and weekly practices. Ok. I fulfilled my 40 days of service this year, no doubt. Now it is time to celebrate the holidays.
We had honest to God carolers last night. It was awesome. Only bad part was that I was behind the refrigerator with leaking water line in one hand and bucket in the other. And Kim was in her PJ since we thought it was Fritz at the door. But they were awesome. I miss caroling. Wish someone else wanted to do it around here.
Today is the official start of “Dead Week” around here. We will be closed after today and won’t reopen until Tuesday. Even then, we will be operating with a smaller staff as folks use up their vacation leave for the year.
I am looking forward to the four days off with my wife. I know it sounds smalsty and foolishly romantic but I just love spending time with her. Even the simplest things are better with Kimmie.
Oh. Time to get back to looking like I am working. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
