V for...Vertigo
2006-03-17 - 1:07 p.m.

Kim and I both came out of the 10pm early showing of V for Vendetta with splitting headaches. Kim's quickly became a migrane and she is in bed whimpering. Mine was sinus and I feel a little more human after some sleep.

The movie? Well...I think they did the best job they could with it. I just don't think the character of V translates to 'real life' very well. He is either scarily psychotic or really, really goofy. Maybe that was Moore's orginal intention. Hard to say since he has totally distanced himself with any of his creations owned by DC. (It was nice to see Vertigo get a screen credit even if the creators didn't...I wonder if they did that with Constantine and I missed it on my er, special straight to my livingroom edition print. ;-) )

Overall I would say that it was pretty close to the spirit of the original with only one glaring difference, and some minor ones that made me go, "huh" and Kim glowering mad.

I personally think it is going to flop at the box office big time, because, well, it's just too weird (and great) a story to be a successful movie.

Some things are best in ther own media.
